Jules,
Thanks for the details. I was hoping you would tell me that the hill was not as steep as I remembered it to be.
I hope my hill repeats up Ohio last week will help me out. I want to downgrade to a 4! ssb

Subject: [GW] Gluek-Pre-Race Report

I pre-road the Gluek/ Marty course today as a recovery ride- good times-here's a smattering of what we're in for next weekend:

This course was new last year and a blast. It's a 13 +/- mile loop with one biggy hill and super fun decent. The start and first stretch on Hwy 165 is fairly flat with a few rollers-no problems.

All was fine until I reached the intersection of Hwy 165 and Hwy 2. The corner happens to be the exact location of the tractor entrance into the adjoining field and was literally covered with fresh manure. If you were at the KWMR yesterday-multiply the fresh manure scent by 22 and that'll getcha pretty close to what hits you at the first turn. There was roughly a solid inch think of c--p covering the road at the corner. The manure was dry today and felt a bit like riding in gravel. If it rains-we could all have some "issues" next weekend.

There was a strong head wind up Hwy 2 for roughly a mile and then the turn onto the back stretch. There is a sneaky steep roller of sorts and then a moderate decent and then a hill akin in length to Ken Woods, but steeper-almost Ramsey steep-but not quite. The decent after the biggy hill is fast and fun. However, in keeping with the theme of the day they must have recently patched the cracks in the pavement because the whole long decent is stripped with a white tape over the patches, occuring every 3 feet or so for at least a mile, making it look like someone intentionally toilet-papered the road. It's blowing all over the place, and was more than a bit distracting (at least for me-I'm easily distracted.) The last stretch turning south is fast to a corner sprint finish.

I ended the day with lunch at the Pearl Lake Lounge-the bar that shares a parking lot with the Catholic Church and adjacent Catholic elementary school........good times, indeed.

See you next weekend. -Jules
