Gopher Wheelmen Club Meeting Notes

Election of Officers

The 4 existing officers were the only people nominated.  All four were
unanimously voting in for another term.

 

Lynne has agreed to be our new membership coordinator.

 

 

Budget

Paul handed out a copy of our expenses for the year.  We are currently $1100
above where we were January 1st of this year.  We made $2779 on KWMRR this
year and $1544 on Red Barn (although a few expenses remain to be paid out of
that).  Our current balance is $12,451.

 

Paul noted that we got a thank you card from Boulder Options.  Paul is
organizing a donation to Boulder Options from team members.  If you wish to
donate, contact Paul.

 

We have enough in the budget to have a team party again next year (late
winter/early spring)

 

 

Red Barn Cyclocross Race

There was discussion of whether or not to give a donation to the Erickson
Brothers Tree Farm for use of the land.  Kotz made the motion to donate $250
to the Erickson Brothers Tree Farm in thanks for hosting our cyclocross
race.  Seconded by Dan Wheeler.  9 yes votes, 1 no.

 

 

Web Site

Sherry reported that we will likely be making some changes to the web site.
In particular, we would like to add a forum.  Bill and Keller are the people
working on the web site.  Mark will be removed as the juniors contact and
replaced with Lynne.  

 

 

Sponsorship

Our fine sponsor would like to have "County Cycles" on any club related
stuff that is printed.  Sherry has directed us to do this.  We should also
be listing our team as "Gopher Wheelmen/County Cycles" when registering for
races.  

 

 

Nature Valley Grand Prix/Great River Energy Bicycle Festival

Dave noted how many GW team members were heavily involved in putting on this
event.  The stage race will be a category 2.1 next year, which is the
highest ranking on the national calendar.

 

 

Clothing Kit

Dan W. will be involved with the clothing again this year and may seek help
from others.  We set deadlines for two clothing orders.  The first deadline
will be at the end of January and the second will be in mid May.

 

 

KWMRR

Ron K. has been co-promoter for the last 2 years.  He has agreed to do
another stint again this year with Sherry, although they will be changing
their roles to some degree.

 

A committee was formed to work on preregistration.  Jeff I and Paul A
volunteered.  Dave L. said he could also offer some advice.  All agreed that
we will only do preregistration if it will save riders time at registration.

 

We will also look into using chips this year for timing.  Sherry will gather
info and we will vote on it at the next team meeting in January.

 

 

MCF Representative

We need someone from the team to attend the monthly MCF meetings.  Everyone
thought Sara B. would be a great representative.

 

 

Training Rides

This year training rides dwindled to only a few riders by the end of the
season.  There are multiple reasons for this including competing races, road
construction, etc.  Next year we will focus on having just a Tuesday
official ride and have more communication about it.

 

Having a strong team ride from the shop is important to the sponsor.

 

 

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be Tuesday January 15th.  Same place.  Mark will
schedule the room.
