Gopher Wheelmen Club Meeting Notes

January 15, 2008

Caribou Coffee meeting room

3100 White Bear Ave N

Maplewood, MN  55109

Meeting started at 7:07

Attending:

* Sherry Berde

* Ron Kadera

* Mark Kotz

* Dan Wheeler

* Jessica Wittwer

Reimbursements

Just a reminder that any requests to the team for reimbursements (e.g. for
supplies for putting on our races) must include receipts and clear
itemizations of the items. In some case requests may be accepted without a
receipt, but with clear itemization.

Budget

Paul was unable to attend but sent a copy of the budget. There was little
discussion of it. We are in good shape.

Communication

The web site has been updated. Lynn is now listed as the membership
contact. We are still looking into the possibility of some kind of online
forum for team members. We need to remove the language that mentions the
Thursday training ride.

Training Rides

This year there are several crit series on Tuesday nights. These might
affect training ride attendance. They are Opus, Dakota Tech, and new this
year (after many years of absence) the Fairgrounds crit. We will see how
this goes and adjust if necessary.

Spring Party

A budget of $1700 was approved for the 2008 spring party (unanimous vote).
Once again, non-member significant others are welcome to attend the party
but will be charged $5 each.

Clothing

Clothing is ready to be ordered.

KWMRR

At last year's race we changed the format of waves due to the time
constraints of a wedding at the church. As it turns out, we really liked
the idea of having one short race segment in the morning and one longer in
the afternoon. We will do this again this year, but with some adjustments.
The morning waves will all be one or two lap waves. The afternoon will have
the longer waves. Ron and Sherry got the input the needed for deciding the
categories for each wave, pending a little more info related to changes of
the ROY categories for 2008.

Big news: We have decided to go with a chip timing system this year
(unanimous vote). This is somewhat expensive. The idea of increasing our
race fee to $30 to cover the cost was discussed. It was agreed that we
should keep our fee at $25 again and essentially eat the roughly $1700 cost
of the chip timing system. We wanted to do this because this will be a very
good test to see how such a system works within MCF and that is something we
can give back to our cycling community. Importantly, it is believed that
the chip timing system will also significantly ease the process of defining
and posting the results.

By unanimous vote, a budget for KWMRR $8600 was approved. This is similar
to last year's budget plus $1700 to cover the chip system expenses.

MCF Representative

Finally, new member Jessica Wittwer has agreed to be our representative at
the MCF meeting.  Yippee!

Meeting adjourned at 8:33. No next meeting date was set.
